Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the role of green hotel practices in promoting sustainable tourism in the Jimbaran area, Bali.

Research methods: A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, including hotel managers, operational staff, and tourism-related stakeholders.

Findings: The findings indicate that green hotel practices have been implemented through various initiatives such as energy efficiency, waste management, reduction of single-use plastics, and water conservation. In addition, these practices contribute to social and economic aspects by empowering local communities and collaborating with local businesses. However, several challenges remain, including low tourist participation, varying levels of commitment among hotels, and limited coordination among stakeholders at the destination level.

Implication: Green hotel practices have significant potential to support sustainable tourism, but require stronger integration, consistency, and collaboration to achieve optimal outcomes.
